During Evacuee Day this year, Y4CG went back in time to 1941, imagining what life was like during WWII for children. They certainly looked the part in their evacuee outfits and approached the day’s activities with a real sense of enthusiasm. The children explored real life historical accounts during their host family time and took part in a drama based role play activity, learning further about what it was like to be an evacuee. There was a letter writing workshop and the children really tried hard to write a letter expressing their feelings. (We hope our families enjoyed reading them!) In the afternoon the children explored typical music from the war and went on a short walk. The day was finished by creating their very own wartime dishes, which included carrot biscuits.
There was a whole class photo of the children dressed as evacuees in the newsletter. The children look forward to showing their parents and families the work completed all about WWII in their Topic books!
