Today CAFOD came to our school to work with us about how we can care for God’s world. We talked about Laudato Si’ – Care for our common home.
We talked about how we can ‘live wisely, think deeply and love generously’ and how this can help us to be stewards of God’s creations.
We worked in groups on these topics:
- Waste – avoiding use of paper and plastics
- Reducing water consumption
- Energy consumption
- Showing care for others
- Food waste
- Encouraging nature
Yesterday we had spirituality day in school. We went to each class in the Juniors, and to church, to experience different types on prayer.
We learnt Psalm 23 and made a prayer bracelet to help us to remember it. We talked about the importance of the Psalm and how it can help to heal in our lives. We had guided meditation which was a wonderful way to speak to God. We experienced washing of feet, the Passover meal where we tasted the foot and drink and learnt about its significance in Lent. We did SPOON prayers where we experienced different types of prayers, fair trade, experienced illustrated compassion linked to scripture and mandala prayers. We also went to Church and experienced the Blessed Sacrament with Mrs Murphy.

Today we composed a prayer for peace and unity in our family, class and beyond, expressing belief and understanding. We used religious words and phrases and made links to the Eucharist and scripture we have read. Well done Year 6
Today we read an alternative version of Hansel and Gretel and watched the film to compare the versions. We talked about the imagery and descriptions and will be using these to support our writing tomorrow! ( keep your eye out on Pobble)
We loved snuggling up in our pjs with a blanket and a teddy listening to the story too!
