On Friday 7th December, St. Mary’s Blackbrook celebrated the feast of Our Lady Immaculate, who the school is named after. We had a whole school assembly where we learnt about the visitation of Mary from the Angel Gabriel and the difficulties that Mary faced. Together we said the Hail Mary.

Following this, each class gathered around a picture of Our Lady on their worship tables, they were presented with a prayer card designed by Elizabeth from Year 6 and we all celebrated with a drink and a biscuit.

To celebrate the beginning of Advent, the school community came together for an Infant and Junior assemblies. The Infants added the crib figures to the crib in the hall. The children sang and told the story of how the different people arrived at the stable. The Juniors then made an Advent wreath for each class that will be used to mark each week of Advent.
