    The school celebrated the start of Advent with key stage assemblies and collective worships. The Infants retold the nativity story as they brought the crib figures to the crib. The Juniors found out about the time of Advent, lit the first candle on the Advent wreath and were presented with their class wreaths.

    During Advent, the children in Year 1 and 2 will have the opportunity to bring home the travelling cribs to keep for 2 nights. Use the cribs to retell the story of the nativity and discuss the real meaning of Christmas. Why not tweet us at school with how you used the cribs and use the hashtag #stmarysbbcribs.

    Y5 have been learning about the sacrament of marriage in Come and See. To celebrate their learning, they went to church to role-play a marriage ceremony with Father Dooley. The children came dressed in their finest clothes to attend the wedding. Two played the bride and groom and the rest were wedding guests. Congratulations to the happy couple!

    Today we had an assembly for Remembrance Day. The Faith in Action group from Y6 led a collective worship which gave us chance to reflect about and remember those who have died while fighting for our country. We then observed a minutes silence. The school councillors have been selling poppies over the past few weeks to raise money for The Royal British Legion.
