Music

Subject Leader: Mrs Amin

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”  Plato

At St Marys Blackbrook we make music an enjoyable and positive learning experience.

Children are encouraged to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up the confidence of all children. Through singing songs, children learn about the structure and organisation of music.

As children get older they will listen to more extended pieces of music which will also help develop their descriptive language.

We aim to motivate and inspire the children’s learning by giving them a wide range of opportunities throughout their school journey.

We also teach technical vocabulary such as volume, pitch, beat and rhythm and encourage children to discuss music using these terms.

Children will learn to listen and appreciate different forms of music. Music increases self – discipline and creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfilment.

The children have the opportunity throughout school to learn an instrument and join Young Singers (Choir).
