We are committed to developing pupils’ understanding and ability to have healthy, happy relationships by providing an environment where pupil’s emotional and social potential are fully developed. The intent of our RSHE curriculum is to provide pupils with the fundamental building blocks that they require to form these relationships. We will foster a sense of self-esteem, mutual care and respect for all. We understand that relationships are key and our relationships’ curriculum forms part of a wider programme of the personal, social, health and emotional development of the individual.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is taught throughout the year from Foundation Stage to Y6. The primary programme of study to deliver the majority of the relationships and sex education aspect of the curriculum is ‘Journey in Love’ which is approved by the bishops of England. The ‘PATHs’ programme is used in school to deliver Social and Emotional Learning which further supports the delivery of the relationships and mental health aspects of the RSHE curriculum. The Health aspects of the RSHE is delivered through Personal Development lessons and are further supported by Science and PE lessons.

We have been awarded PATHS Model school status.

This award recognises the significant commitment the school has made to ensure that the PATHS® Programme is delivered regularly as part of the core curriculum but is also fully embedded throughout the whole school ethos and is integrated into every aspect of school life.
